Picture GalleryPictures can be useful for mathematically diverse applications. This gallery—consisting of pictures for you to use as you explore mathematics—is divided into four sections, based upon suggested use, although you may find other uses as well. You can drag and drop, or copy and paste, these pictures into your sketches. To copy an image, right-click (or Control-click) the image and choose Copy Image from the pop-up menu. Then switch to Sketchpad and choose Edit | Paste Picture. TransformationPictures are ideally suited for the exploration of transformations. Use these pictures to create or to analyze designs involving translations, reflections, rotations, dilations, and self-similarity. Perspective and ProportionSome pictures involve interesting perspectives or proportions in natural and human phenomena. Use these pictures to investigate or create models of perspective drawings, proportions, similarity, and trigonometry. Curve FittingMany pictures contain elements that can be modeled by mathematical curves—from straight lines and parabolas to polynomial functions and conic sections. Use these pictures as backdrops for fitting curves or for measurement. AnimationOften you will create your own Sketchpad models involving animation. Use these pictures to attach to moving points in your model and add visual appeal to your model. Credits and Permissions |
